spring seasonal ritual: Equinox cleanse

The arrival of Spring is the transition of the seasons from winter, and entering later into the warm/hot months of summer in the Northern Hemisphere.

According to Ayurveda - the juncture of the seasons are KEY for cleanses, setting intentions, and keeping your body aligned with natures rhythms.

This is an opportune and receptive time for your body to do a “spring cleanse”, just like your house would!! Your body is more than just a house, it is your temple.

This cleanse, or retreat is a way to clear out un-metabolized emotions or toxins that we accumulate over the course of the year, or years! This extra load on our body can create a foggy mind, unprocessed feelings, stagnant energy, lethargy, poor memory, attachment, fear, and difficulty making decisions. In the body it can manifest as extra weight, bloating, indigestion, joint pain, inflammation and constipation to name a few.

All activities are designed to take you within, to connect with your soul, your essence and your deeper knowing. They will also be focused on movement, moving the body and time with nature and the elements.

WHY THE RETREAT?

For years now, I had been doing a spring cleanse or detox, either following a group online, or on my own. What I noticed is that is way to hard to prepare the detox food, and cleansing recipes while still tending to my household, my family and my day job. Inevitably after a few days I would get tired or just start eating normally again. The best retreats where I have seen the biggest, most visible results, I was away from my house, the food or juice was prepared for me, and I was unplugged from the duties of daily life + job.

Or maybe you just want a reset, a break from the daily and a way to kick start your entry into summer.

A huge portion of this short 4 day cleanse, is taking time to rest, to rest the body and the mind- REST THE NERVOUS SYSTEM, to be able to receive what it truly needs from the fresh nutrients, the movement and practices curated just for this cleanse.

This is a chance to rest your senses, your digestion, your mind, your emotions and energize both your physical, and your light body.

Also the importance of being by the ocean, which ionizes your body and is a true healer all on its own.

THE NOURISHMENT

The retreat and cleanse will be based on Ayurvedic, and holistic principles: eating smaller, lighter organic, whole food, meals, including option of doing juices in the morning, or for those so inclined, full or partial juicing for the 4 days. We will ask that you specify in the intake form.

The retreat will emphasize 3 meals a day, tea, light snacks, plenty of water and green juices upon order.

DAILY SCHEDULE

  • Wake with sun and set intentions for the day

  • Beach walk (optional)

  • Drink glass of warm water with lemon

  • Daily Morning Yoga + Meditation

  • Juice or Breakfast Smoothie (optional with protein)

  • Days event (group activity of the day)

  • Lunch

  • Solo time and/or optional choice of massage or other activity

  • Evening meditation (optional)

  • Nourishing Dinner 

    ** this is a sample daily schedule, and will include activities from the list mentioned above and will alter slightly daily.

location + Accomodations

The retreat will take place at Sandbridge Beach, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It will be an entire house, within walking distance to the beach, hot tub, spacious kitchen, and individual rooms.
